Dragons Upended At Towson

TOWSON, Md. – Keishana Washington tied the Drexel women's basketball record for consecutive games in double figures, but a tough second half saw the Dragons upended by the Towson Tigers 70-61 on Sunday afternoon.

The Dragons return home for a pair of games next weekend, starting with a contest against Hofstra on Friday, January 27. Tipoff from the Daskalakis Athletic Center is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

- Washington led Drexel with 27 points, her 52nd in a row in double figures, tying Gabriela Marginean for the most consecutive games with 10+ points in program history. It was also her 14th game this season with 20 or more points.
- Chloe Hodges continued her offensive contributions, recording a career-high for a second straight game, scoring 14. 10 of her points came in the second half as she shot 7-for-8 in the contest.
- Maura Hendrixson had her fifth game this season with double digit assists, ending with 12 dimes and just one turnover.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a slow start for both teams, Drexel got the scoring going with Washington, who scored five of the Dragons first seven points and assisted on the other bucket. Towson stayed close with a couple of three-pointers. DU ended the frame on a 5-1 run, taking a 16-12 lead after 10 minutes.
- The Tigers jumped on top early in the second, going on a 15-7 spurt during the first seven minutes of the quarter. Drexel responded with a 9-0 run, on its way to a 32-29 lead at the break.
- A quick start for DU in the third built the lead to 36-29, but it was quickly erased as Towson went on a 19-6 run in the final eight minutes of the stanza, taking a 48-42 lead with 10 minutes remaining.
- TU pushed the lead to 10 early in the fourth. Drexel got the lead down to six on a couple of occasions, but was unable to chop the edge further.
