Drexel Mourns the Loss of Lamont Butts

PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel community is in mourning after learning of the sudden passing of Lamont Butts last week.
Lamont was a member of the Daskalakis Athletic security team for nearly 20 years. He began his career at the school in 2005 and was someone alumni made a point to visit during their time back on campus while serving as a welcoming face for current staff and student-athletes.
"I think we all came to know Lamont as that friendly face in the hallway, with an infectious laugh and a passion for being connected with so many of us," said Director of Athletics Maisha Kelly. "He provided a hub of comradery among his co-workers across the units that support the DAC. It is an understatement to say how much he will be missed; our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time."
Lamont was honored with a moment of silence prior to Drexel's men's basketball game against Delaware on Saturday afternoon.
