ELON, N.C. – Amari Williams scored a career-high 23 points, but it was not enough as Drexel dropped a 72-58 decision to Elon on Saturday afternoon in North Carolina. With the loss the Dragons fell to 12-10 overall and 6-4 in Colonial Athletic Association play.
Elon (3-19, 1-8) opened the second half on fire from the floor. The Phoenix made nine of its first 10 shots and led 49-33 with 13:56 to play after Jerald Gillens-Butler hit a step back 3-pointer. Drexel tried to get back in the game and got as close as five after a 9-0 run. Coletrane Washington hit a three-pointer and then Williams scored seven straight to make it 57-52.
