Washington Ties Marginean As Dragons Drop Delaware

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women's basketball team turned up the defensive effort, forcing Delaware into 21 turnovers and Keishana Washington tied a program record as the Dragons downed the Blue Hens 73-57 to remain undefeated in CAA play.

- Washington led the Dragons with 30 points in the contest, her 48th consecutive contest with 10 or more points. It was her 11th game this season with 20+ points and her seventh eclipsing 30.
- It was also Washington's 12th career game with 30+ points, tying Gabriela Marginean's program record.
- Maura Hendrixson dished 13 assists, her second straight game with double figure dimes. She also topped the team with six rebounds.
- Tori Hyduke tied a season-high with eight points, Grace O'Neill matched a personal best with five steals.
- It was the sixth time this season Drexel forced an opponent into 20 or more turnovers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A hot start for the Dragons on both sides of the ball helped DU to an 8-0 lead as Drexel forced five Delaware turnovers in the first three minutes. The Blue Hens closed the gap to 12-9 with three minutes remaining, but DU ended the period on a 7-0 run, taking a 19-9 advantage at the end of the first.
- Both teams shot well in the second quarter as each team scored 24 points. Hendrixson led the way for the Dragons with six points and four assists in the frame as DU took a 43-33 lead into the break.
- The third quarter was Washington's time to shine, scoring the first 13 points of the period for Drexel as the Dragons built a 17-point lead with two minutes remaining in the stanza before taking a 58-45 edge into the final 10 minutes.
- DU opened the lead to as many as 20 in the fourth before UD scored late to create the final.
