No. 6 Men's Squash Comes Away With Pair of Sweeps

PHILADELPHIA – The No. 6 Drexel University men's squash team advanced to the championship match of the PA Squash Championships with a pair of sweeps, downing No. 15 Chatham and No. 31 Haverford.
Drexel wasted no time in getting the first match of the day in the books as the Dragons dispatched the Cougars. Haris Qasim started the day off at number two with a 7-11, 11-8, 11-7, 11-8 victory. José López posted a sweep in the fifth position, followed by a 11-9, 9-11, 11-9, 11-7 victory at number eight by Darien Benn in his collegiate debut. After the changeover in the three-court rotation, Fritiof Jacobsson earned a sweep in the fourth spot before Guido Lindner sealed the victory with an 11-3, 11-3, 11-8 victory at number seven.
Also earning wins against Chatham were Nico Serna, Youssef Bastawy, Yuri Pelbart and Michael Berry.
In the second match of the day, the Dragons shuffled the lineup as Bastawy, Jacobsson, López, Pelbart, Lindner and Benn each moved two places up the ladder. The results were the same, however as that group was joined in the win column by Shomari Wiltshire, Dima Dimitru and Nicoló Abou Taleb as the Dragons finished off their second 9-0 match of the day.
With the victories, Drexel moves into the championship match of the PA Squash Championship where it will take on No. 1 Penn on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
