Dragons Fall to No. 22 Florida State, 76-56

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women's basketball team was defeated by the No. 22 Florida State Seminoles, 76-56, on Sunday afternoon in Philadelphia.
BY THE NUMBERS
Brooke Mullin scored a team-high 11 points. The graduate student also added eight rebounds and six assists to her effort.
Chloe Hodges broke double-digits for a third straight game, scoring 10 points and collecting five rebounds. Hetta Saatman finished the best game of her season, scoring nine points and corralling five boards and also blocking two shots.
Florida State was powerful inside the paint, scoring 46 points down low.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Seminoles had a 19-16 advantage at the end of the first frame. Ta'Niya Latson and O'Mariah Gordon both led the visitors in scoring with seven and six, respectively. Momo LaClair shot 3-for-5 in the first quarter and was helped by Hodges and Grace O'Neill, who had four points apiece.
In the second quarter, FSU got to the charity stripe a total of 10 times and converted on eight of those attempts. The Dragons picked up eight fouls in the second quarter, which led to the Seminoles heading into the locker room with a 13-point lead at the half.
Florida State kept up its interior offense in the third quarter. The Seminoles scored 14 of its 21 points from inside the paint. Latson pushed her total to 19 points after adding nine on 4-for-6 shooting. Mullin cashed in on three treys to push her total to 11. FSU held a 57-39 lead at the end of the third quarter.
Drexel attempted to cut further into the lead by scoring 17 points in the fourth quarter. However, the FSU offense was too much, as the visitors scored 19 points in the frame.

The Dragons travel to Fort Myers, Fla. to play in the Homewood Suites Classic, hosted by Florida Gulf Coast. The two-day event will give the Dragons two games against FGCU and Cleveland State.
The teams' first game, against the hosts, is slated to be played on Wednesday, Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN+
Drexel's second game against Cleveland State will not be livestreamed but will have live stats to follow online. Tipoff against the Vikings is set for 3 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21.
