Dragons Fall to Cleveland State, 69-59

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Drexel women's basketball team was defeated by the Cleveland State Vikings, 69-59 on Thursday afternoon in Fort Myers, Fla. The game was the second and final game of the Homewood Suites Classic, hosted by FGCU.
BY THE NUMBERS
Brooke Mullin scored 20 points on 6-for-11 from long range. Amaris Baker also cracked double-digits, scoring 12 points and gathered seven rebounds.
The Dragons forced 14 turnovers and shot 12-for-31 from beyond the three-point line.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dragons opened the game shooting 3-for-6 in the first quarter. Drexel also held the Vikings to just two free throws in the final three minutes of the frame. Drexel ended the first quarter with a two point lead, 17-15.
The Vikings widened the gap in the second quarter, going on an 8-0 run in the final two and a half minutes. Baker made a pair of threes in the second quarter to push her overall total to eight. The Dragons trailed Cleveland State by 10 at the end of the half.
Cleveland State had the edge in the third quarter, scoring 16 points to Drexel's 14. The Dragons caused six turnovers in the frame and kept the Vikings away from the 3-point line. Drexel, however, found success from distance, shooting 3-for-6. Mullin led Drexel with nine points off of a trio of 3-pointers. Cleveland State ended the third quarter with a 51-39 lead.
The Dragons scored 15 points in the fourth quarter but their comeback was spoiled by an 18-point quarter by the Vikings. Mullin scored six points to push her total to 20 points.

Drexel closes out its non-conference schedule on Friday, December 29th, against the Arcadia Knights. Tipoff from the Daskalakis Athletic Center is slated for 2 p.m.
