Dragons Topple Cougars for Fifth Straight Win

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women's basketball team tied a season-high with 86 points and won its fifth in a row, downing the College of Charleston Cougars 86-61 on Friday night.

- Kylie Lavelle scored a game-high 28 points, her fourth game this season with 20 or more. She also pulled in four rebounds.
- Keishana Washington had her 57th consecutive game in double figure scoring with 21 points. She also recorded her second career double-double, adding a personal best 11 assists to go along with seven rebounds.
- Maura Hendrixson added six points and nine assists in the game.
- Grace O'Neill with 10 points. Chloe Hodges added nine.
- Jasmine Valentine led DU with eight rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Charleston scored the first basket of the game, the Dragons came out on the attack, using a 12-3 run to open a seven point lead with 4:03 left in the first, holding the Cougars without a field goal in seven attempts during the span.
- The second quarter saw DU expand its advantage, starting on an 11-4 run, pushing the edge to 31-21 just past the midway point of the period. Keying the stretch were a pair of three-pointers by Hendrixson and an assist for Washington on each of the first four baskets of the stanza. Rounding out the half, Lavelle came alive, scoring 11 points, nine of them coming after the media timeout as the Dragons took a 44-31 lead into the break.
- Drexel was lights out to open the third, connecting on its first five shots and eight of nine as the Dragons opened a 67-44 lead with three minutes remaining. Lavelle, Washington and O'Neill each scored multiple baskets in the stretch with at least six points apiece. Overall DU scored 26 points in the frame, taking a 70-48 lead into the final 10 minutes.
- The fourth quarter continued to see the Dragons push the advantage, going up by as many as 27, giving DU a chance to get some reserves minutes in the contest.
