WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Keishana Washington scored 32 points, but the Drexel women's basketball team saw its five-game winning streak come to a close with a 70-66 setback at Monmouth on Sunday afternoon.

BY THE NUMBERS

Keishana Washington notched her ninth game this year and 14th of her career scoring 30 or more points. She also had five assists.
Grace O'Neill added eight points and five rebounds.
Jasmine Valentine scored six and led the Dragons with six rebounds.
Maura Hendrixson led DU with eight assists and became the sixth player in program history with 400+ dimes.
Hetta Saatman recorded a pair of blocks, moving into 10th place all-time at Drexel, passing Taylor Wootton.

HOW IT HAPPENED

It was a slow start for Drexel who shot 6-for-18 in the opening quarter. Washington scored eight of the points for the Dragons, who were also hampered by the Hawks having an 8-0 advantage in free throw attempts in the frame as Monmouth led by nine points after 10 minutes.
Things improved to start the second quarter as DU connected on three of six shots to open the frame. The Dragons' defense was also a key in the period as Drexel held Monmouth without a field goal in the final 5:40 of the stanza.
The Hawks extended their lead early in the third, going up 45-36 with 3:50 remaining before Drexel went on a 10-3 run to end the quarter, including the final six points as the lead was sliced to a pair with 10 minutes remaining.
In the fourth, Washington once again came to life scoring 15. DU kept the game close, not allowing Monmouth more than a five-point lead, but for every Dragons' run, the Hawks had an answer, creating the final score.
