Dragons Host Penn and Army at the DAC this Weekend

PHILADELPHIA - Drexel seeks to continue its eight-match winning streak this weekend when it hosts EIWA foes Army and Penn at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. DU's last dual on February 5, was decided by the final match at 285 as the Dragons defeated Hofstra 19-16 in Hempstead. Drexel improved to 9-4 overall and 6-0 against its conference.
Series History
This will be the 20th dual between the Dragons and Black Knights. Army holds the series 10-9 over the Dragons. In its most recent dual, the Black Knights bested DU 29-5 on January 7, 2018. This will be the 32nd matchup between the Philly rivals. Drexel has a slight advantage of 16-15 over the Quakers. In the last meeting on February 13, 2022, Penn defeated Drexel 35-8 and took home the Battle of the Cheesesteak Trophy.
About the Dragons
The Dragons have bested their opponents in the last eight duals. DU has defeated six EIWA rivals as well as No. 20 Purdue, Utah Valley, and George Mason. The team returns two NCAA qualifiers from last season, No.5 Mickey O'Malley and No. 16 Evan Barczak. Additionally, No. 30 Luke Nichter and No. 25 Brian Bonino round out Drexel's nationally ranked-wrestlers.
About the Black Knights
Army is 5-6 in dual competition with wins against Bucknell (19-17) and American (27-6). West Point is 3-3 against the EIWA. The team has two nationally ranked wrestlers at 125lbs and 174lbs. Ethan Berginc (125) is No. 14 per FloWrestling and Ben Pasiuk (174) is No. 16 by Openmat.
About the Quakers
Penn is currently ranked No. 24 in a tie with Michigan State by the National Wrestling Coaches Association. The program boasts a tough lineup with all, but one wrestler ranked. The Quakers have defeated No. 20 Lehigh (23-11) and dropped a close EIWA decision with No. 5 Cornell, 15-19.
