
Washington Tops 40 Again As Dragons Down Blue Hens

NEWARK, Del. - Keishana Washington posted her third game with 40 or more points this season as the Drexel women's basketball team downed Delaware 67-55 on Sunday afternoon.

BY THE NUMBERS
- Washington posted 40 in the game, becoming the first player in the NCAA this season with three games of 40 or more.
- It was also her fourth career game with 40+ points, breaking the Dragons' record, previously held by Gabriela Marginean.
- Maura Hendrixson had seven assists on the afternoon. Her second set a Drexel record for most helpers in a season. She passed Hollie Mershon's total from the 2012-13 campaign and now has 191 on the year. She also led the Dragons with seven boards.
- Chloe Hodges added nine points. Kylie Lavelle had eight.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Drexel went on the attack early and often in the first quarter, getting to the free throw line 13 times, making 12. Washington was 7-for-7 at the stripe in the period on her way to 13 opening stanza points as DU led 20-18 after 10 minutes.
- Neither team shot well in the second period, but a run in the middle of the frame helped the Dragons open up a 32-22 lead with 3:12 remaining. Delaware battled back, scoring the final seven points in the quarter, cutting the Drexel lead to 32-29 at the break.
- DU started to pull away in the third, holding the Blue Hens to 4-for-13 shooting. Drexel found its stroke as well, scoring 22 points as the Dragons held a 54-43 lead into the final 10 minutes. Washington once again dominated, outscoring Delaware 15-14 on her own in the frame.
- Drexel maintained the lead through the final quarter as the Blue Hens did not get closer than six points.
