BY THE NUMBERS
- Keishana Washington notched her 56th consecutive game in double figures, scoring 40. It was her 13th career game with 30 or more, passing Gabriela Marginean for the most such games in program history. She scored 16 of her points in the fourth quarter going 7-for-9 in the frame.
- Maura Hendrixson led the way with nine assists, moving into a tie for sixth place on the Drexel all-time list with 387. In the game she passed Maureen Michaels and matched Hollie Mershon.
- Jasmine Valentine came up big on the offensive end with eight points, six of them coming in the final 10:01 of the game. She also grabbed all five of her rebounds in the final period.
- Kylie Lavelle led DU with six boards.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Trailing 49-44 heading into the fourth, Washington went to work right away, scoring the first six points of the period to put the Dragons on top. Drexel built the lead to as much as 62-57 before SBU made a final push, taking a 63-62 lead with 2:11 left. After Washington scored and a pair of free throws kept the Seawolves up a point, Washington clinched the win with a fadeaway from the right baseline. DU then withstood a couple last chances to hold on for victory.
- Both teams struggled to find a rhythm early on, but the Dragons were able to strike first with a free throw from Hetta Saatman and a three-pointer from Washington. The heavy lifting the frame was done by the graduate student from Pickering, Ontario who netted 13 of Drexel's 19 first quarter points as DU took a four point advantage after 10 minutes.
- After a trey from Maura Hendrixson expanded the lead to 22-15 on the opening possession of the second, the Seawolves roared back, using a 10-2 run to take a 25-24 edge three minutes into the frame. Undaunted, Drexel responded, scoring the next eight in a row while forcing three SBU turnovers in the span. In a half of runs, Stony Brook answered back, scoring 12 of 14 to end the half as the Seawolves took a 37-34 lead into the break.
- It was a rough third quarter for the Dragons who connected on just four of 18 shots in the period, but still trailed by just five heading into the final period.
