Dragons Down Towson, 4-3, to Open Conference Slate

TOWSON, Md. – The Drexel women's team opened the conference slate on Saturday evening with a victory against the Towson Tigers. Drexel climbs to 1-0 in conference play and 6-8 overall.
Drexel clinched the doubles point after taking the top two-seeded match. In the top flight, Lorie Lemongo and Renata Lombera defeated their opponents, 6-3. In the second-seeded match, Isabel Cabrerizo and Cristina Corte Gonzalez downed their opponents, 7-6.
In singles play, Lemongo downed her opponent in two sets, 7-5, 6-2. Renata Lombera followed her teammate with a 6-2, 6-1 victory. Cabrerizo capped off the Drexel victories with a pair of 6-1 sets in the third-seeded match.
Drexel now has the chance to recoup as their next match is 18 days away. The Dragons will take a trip to Florida and play a pair of matches against Lynn and Nova Southeastern. The first match, against Lynn, will be played on March 29. A day later, the Dragons will travel to Fort Lauderdale to take no Nova Southeastern.
