Women's Rowing Wraps Busy Weekend at Eastern Sprints Regatta

WORCESTER, Mass. – Competing for a second consecutive day, the Drexel women's rowing team took on some of the top competition nationally at the Eastern Sprints Regatta on Sunday.

In the Varsity 8+, the Dragons faced No. 10 Syracuse and No. 20 Columbia in their heat, coming in third during the morning session with a time of 6:34.570. In rough waters during the afternoon, the group of Natalie Cleri (coxswain), Taylor Powell (stroke), Mollie Knoff, Julianna Rogers, Hayley McKeever, Kirby Droogan, Rita Keefer, Giavanna Hunt and Morgan Van Dexter (bow) rowed Jim & Toni Downey to a second place finish in the petite final with a 6:33.690 clocking.

The 3V8+ also took second in the petite final of its event. Competing in Cara Fry, Belen Rosales (coxswain), Baylor Henry (stroke), Kira Tracy, Addison Devine, Fiona Steele, Margaret Dobrenko, Emily Ellis, Delaney Gellert and Julia Porro (bow) crossed the finish line in 7:00.860 following a 6:59.480 in its morning heat.

Next up for the Dragons is the CAA Championships to be held at Fish Creek Marina in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. on Friday, May 12. First race is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. with the winner of the event advancing to the NCAA Championships
