Dragons Win Big Against Saint Joseph's on Senior Day, 6-1

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women's tennis team defeated the Saint Joseph's Hawks in a mid-week match on Thursday afternoon at the Vidas Courts, 6-1.
Before the match, the team honored four members of the team for their hard work and dedication to the program. Mya Fuentes, Cristina Corte Gonzalez, Aida Garcia Mendez and Katerina Cummings all were honored.
The Dragons jumped out to a quick start, clinching the doubles point with wins in all three matches. Lorie Lemongo and Renata Lombera downed their opponents in the top-seeded match, 6-2. In the No. 2 match, Isabel Cabrerizo and Garcia Mendez took care of their opponents, 6-3. Lastly, in the third-seeded match, Fuentes and Gonzalez finished the sweep with a 6-3 victory.
In singles play, Lemongo made quick work of her opponent, 6-2, 6-1. Lombera defeated her opponent in the No. 2 match with a pair of, 6-2 sets. In the third-seeded match, Cabrerizo also needed just two sets to defeat her opponent, 6-2, 6-3. Gonzalez finished her opponent in the fourth-seeded match, 6-2, 6-4 and Garcia Mendez beat her opponent, 6-2, 7-6(4), in the No. 5 match.
The Dragons wrap their 2023 spring season with a pair of conference matches. Drexel will host the Delaware Blue Hens on Wednesday, April 12 at 10 a.m. and then will travel to Hofstra on April 15.
