PHILADELPHIA – Janet E. and Barry C. Burkholder Women's Basketball Head Coach Amy Mallon announced the addition of three transfers; Brooke Mullin, Amaris Baker and Erin Doherty to the Dragons for the 2023-24 season.
"We're excited to bring Brooke, Amaris and Erin to campus," said Mallon. "All three of them are new to Drexel, but are in no way new to the game. Each comes from a different background with Brooke spending four years at a Power 5 school, including a trip to the Sweet 16 last season, Amaris playing in the NJCAA National Championship tournament last season and Erin competing at an All-Conference level at Catholic. Those experiences will help to enhance our program as we look to maintain the standard that is expected of Drexel basketball."
Mullin joins Drexel as a grad transfer from Villanova where she played 124 games with 89 starts during her four years, including all 37 last season. She was seventh in the Big East with 3.5 assists per game, adding 3.7 points and 2.7 rebounds per contest. She delivered a career-high eight assists against Temple on November 20 and was eighth nationally with a 2.82 assist-to-turnover ratio for a Wildcats team that was ranked as high as No. 10 last season and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16.
A prolific scorer, Baker also comes to the Dragons from a school on Lancaster Avenue after playing the last two seasons at Harcum. In 2022-23, she led all of NJCAA Division II in scoring at 27.0 points per game. She scored 919 points in total, including posting 61 points combined in the first two rounds of the NJCAA National Tournament, leading the Bears to the semifinals. Overall, Baker connected in 51.8 percent of her shots from the floor, was 38.5 percent from three-point range and also pulled in 6.5 rebounds a game.
A local product from Havertown, Doherty arrives at Drexel following four years at Catholic University. With the Cardinals, she appeared in 88 games, starting 60, scoring 920 total points. She was a two-time All-Landmark Conference honoree including First Team accolades in 2021-22. She made one of her last appearances with CUA a memorable one, netting a career-high 30 points on Senior Day against Drew.
The Dragons were the CAA regular season co-champions last year, finishing 21-10, their sixth consecutive full season with 20+ wins.
