Three Drexel Teams Honored for Academics by the CAA

RICHMOND, Va. – Three Drexel teams have been named the recipients of the Colonial Athletic Association Team Academic Excellence Awards for the 2022-23 academic year. The women's basketball team, the men's tennis team and the golf team were all honored for their work in the classroom.

The Team Academic Excellence Award recognizes the institution with the highest collective grade point average in all 22 sports sponsored by the CAA. The team GPA is a calculation of the grade point average of each student-athlete who appeared on an institution's roster throughout the final day of their respective championship seasons during the 2022-23 academic year. The men's tennis team had a 3.73 GPA this past season. The golf team finished with a 3.68 GPA, while the women's basketball team had a GPA of 3.56.

Drexel's three teams were the second-highest total in the CAA behind only Monmouth. Drexel and Elon each had three. Overall, 11 teams had at least one recipient.

The Team Academic Excellence Award winner in 14 of the 22 sports recorded a team grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
