Bernhardt '17 Selected to Swim for 2023-24 U.S. National Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Drexel alumna Rachel Bernhardt '17, was one of 94 athletes to be named to the U.S. National Team. She is one of 27 athletes to make their debut on the roster. Bernhardt is the first Drexel swimmer to appear on the U.S. team. USA Swimming, the National Governing Body of the sport in the United States, announced its 2023-24 U.S. National Team this week.
At Drexel, Bernhardt pieced together an impressive career. She appeared in the NCAA Championships twice, including when she made a 16th place showing in the 100 breast in 2017. The Vineland, N.J. native also swam in the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials. Bernhardt capped her Drexel career by being named the Mary Semanik Award recipient.
Bernhardt will join athletes such as Kate Douglass, Katie Ledecky and Regan Smith on the team which features swimmers from 22 different states. The team has 12 current American record holders and six current world record holders.
The U.S. National Team is comprised of the six athletes with the fastest times in each individual olympic event, from the combined results of approved competitions between January 1, 2023 through September 9, 2023. The full pool selection criteria document can be found here.
