Drexel Men's Basketball Announces 2023-24 Schedule

PHILADELPHIA – A trio of Big 5 matchups, including Temple's first visit to the Daskalakis Athletic Center since 1985 and the Philadelphia Big 5 Classic at the Wells Fargo Center, highlight the 2023-24 Drexel men's basketball schedule. The 2023-24 men's basketball season is presented by IBEW Local 98.
Drexel will begin the season with a Big 5 contest at La Salle. It will be the team's first official game as a member of the Big 5. After a trip to Winthrop, the Dragons return to the Daskalakis Athletic Center to face Temple. It will be the first time since 1985 that the Owls have made the 3.5-mile trip to the DAC.
On December 2, all six Philadelphia Division I teams will be playing in the Big 5 Classic at the Wells Fargo Center as part of a triple-header. The Dragons will face either Penn, Saint Joseph's or Villanova that day. The winner of the nightcap of the triple-header will be crowned the Big 5 champion.
The Dragons will have a challenging road schedule in non-league play. In addition to the La Salle and Winthrop games, Drexel will play at Old Dominion, Lafayette, Princeton, West Virginia and Bryant. Drexel will have five home games at the DAC, including the Market Street Challenge, which will feature games against Fairfield and Queens (N.C.). The University at Albany and Penn State Greater Allegheny are also on the home schedule during December prior to Coastal Athletic Association play.
The 18-game CAA schedule begins on New Year's Day when Hampton comes to the DAC for a nationally-televised game. UNCW follows before the Dragons head to Williamsburg, Va. to take on William & Mary in their first CAA road game of 2024. The Dragons will play home-and-home series against Delaware, Hofstra, Monmouth, North Carolina A&T and UNCW. Due to the unbalanced schedule, Drexel will only host CAA-newcomer Campbell, Hampton, Northeastern and Stony Brook. Coach Spiker's team will play Charleston, Elon, Towson and William & Mary only on the road during the 2023-24 season.
The 2024 CAA Men's Basketball Championships will be played in Washington, D.C. once again. All 14 CAA teams will compete for the league championship and a bid to the NCAA Tournament at the Entertainment & Sports Arena. The CAA Championships begin on March 8, with the championship game being played on March 12.
