Amari Williams Named Big 5 Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - Amari Williams has been named the Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week. The senior played a big role in a pair of Drexel CAA victories last week.

Williams had a big game in the Dragons' win at North Carolina A&T on Thursday. He led the team with 15 points, nine rebounds and five blocked shots. He also handed out a pair of assists and sank a pair of key free throws in the final minute. On Saturday at Elon, Williams was 6-for-9 from the floor and perfect in five attempts from the line. He finished with 17 points, six rebounds and two assists. With the win at Elon, Drexel improved to 5-0 in CAA play for the first time since joining the league prior to the 2001-02 season.

In the two games, Williams averaged 16 points, 7.5 rebounds and shot 60 percent from the floor (12-for-20). He is now averaging 11.9 points and 7.9 rebounds for the Dragons, who are now 12-6 overall. They are back in action on Thursday night when they host Monmouth in a nationally-televised game at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. That game begins at 7 p.m.
