Dragons Remain Unbeaten In CAA Play With Homecoming Win vs. Delaware

Five Score in Double FIgures as Dragons Improve to 7-0 in the CAA
PHILADELPHIA – Drexel shot 70 percent in the second half to break open a close game on its way to an 86-67 win against Delaware at the Daskalakis Athletic Center on Homecoming. It was the Dragons (14-6) seventh straight win as they remained unbeaten in CAA play with a 7-0 record. Five different players had at least 10 points as Drexel defeated the Blue Hens (11-8, 3-3) for the third straight time.
Lucas Monroe had his first double-double in a Drexel uniform with 14 points and 12 rebounds. The 14 points tied a career-high Monroe set while at Penn. Justin Moore had an outstanding night, scoring 18 points and handing out seven assists without a turnover. He led five players in double figures in the game. Kobe MaGee had another solid performance off the bench. The sophomore scored 15 points and had the best shooting night of his career. He made six of his seven shots and was perfect on his three 3-point attempts. Amari Williams added an efficient 14 points on 6-for-8 shooting. He also contributed five rebounds, five assists and rejected three shots.
Drexel finished the night shooting 60 percent from the floor. It was their best shooting night against a Division I team this season. They were 10 of 20 from behind the arc, marking the third time this season they shot better than 50 percent from deep.
The game was tied at 34-34 coming out of halftime, but Drexel made its first five shots in the second half to take the lead for good. Mate Okros set up Amari Williams for a lay-up and after the Dragons got a stop, Okros nailed a 3-pointer to extend the lead to five. The Blue Hens answered with a Jyare Davis bucket, but Drexel scored five in a row on its way to opening up a big lead. The Dragons were 6-for-10 from deep in the second half.
The teams played a fairly even first half. Delaware trailed by five late, but held the Dragons scoreless over the final 3:30 of the half. Davis put home a miss by Gerald Drumgoole, Jr. right before the buzzer to tie the score. The Hens made five 3-pointers in the first half and forced seven Drexel turnovers. Monroe had an outstanding half, scoring eight points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Drumgoogle, Jr. had 11 of his team-high 18 points in the half. Davis finished with 17 points, but Drexel held him to just seven field goals on 20 attempts.
Drexel will look for its eight straight win on Thursday night in Towson.
