PHILADELPHIA– Drexel knocks off Hofstra in overtime to clinch a spot in the CAA postseason for the third straight year. This win moves Drexel to 9-3 on the season and extends their win streak to seven games.
If you look just at the box score you would see a lop-sided game as the Dragons outshot Hofstra 19 to 1 and had 10 corners to their two. However, goalie Pieke Roos saved 13 shots to keep the Pride in the contest.
As the game went to overtime Drexel kept up their attack and finally got home as Valentine Van Hellemont scored in the 66th minute to beat Hofstra and take Drexel to the postseason.
The Dragons will look to finish the season strong with six games remaining as they sit tied for atop the CAA with Delaware who they will face in the regular season finale.
