
Dragons Sit in Second Place After Day Three of the Bruno Invite

PROVIDENCE, RI- The Drexel men's swimming and diving team sits in second place after day three of the Bruno Invite. The Dragons earned eight medals on the day, trailing only Brown in the standings.
In the 100 Butterfly, Jakub Kwasny delivered a stellar performance, finishing with a time of 46.79. Kwasny's prelim time of 48.04 had him seeded second going into the final. Theo Andreopoulos also struck gold in the 100 backstroke, hitting the wall at 47.78. His prelim time of 47.28 had him seeded first in the event. Reds Rullis added to Drexel's gold haul with a victory in the 200 Freestyle, finishing with a time of 1:37.27 after qualifying fifth with a prelim time of 1:38.66.
Dimi Gkelis earned a silver medal in the 100 backstroke with a time of 48.48 after being seeded third from prelims with a time of 48.58. The team of Andreopoulos, Bartosz Loter, Kwasny, and Sebastian Smith earned another silver in the 200 medley relay, finishing with a time of 1:26.23.
Sebastian Smith secured a bronze medal in the 100 backstroke, clocking in at 49.33, while Bart Loter earned bronze in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 54.11. The relay team of Gkelis, Kacper Karnik, Nathan Piccolo, and Colton Wade also claimed bronze in the 200 medley relay, finishing at 1:28.10.
Other notable A-final appearances included Mohammed ElTayeb in the 200 freestyle, where he finished seventh with a time of 1:39.58, and Youssef Bahgat, who placed eighth in the same event with a time of 1:39.76. Nate Piccolo also showed strong form in the 100 butterfly, finishing fourth with a time of 48.31 after a solid prelim swim of 48.85.
On the final day of competition, the 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 1650 freestyle, and the 400 freestyle relay will be featured. Prelims begin at 10 a.m. in Providence, R.I.
