Dragons of the Week: Bednarik and Bastawy

PHILADELPHIA – Corinne Bednarik of women's lacrosse and Youssef Bastawy of men's squash have been named the Drexel Dragons of the Week, presented by Rothman Orthopaedics, for the week from February 5- February 11.
Bednarik was named the CAA Player of the Week after Drexel's season-opening win against Binghamton, 14-6, on Saturday afternoon. The Glenmoore, Pa. native led the Dragons with six goals and five assists to set the Drexel single-game points record with eleven. Additionally, with her third score of the contest, the reigning CAA attacker of the year reached 200 points in her career. The senior was responsible for 79% of Drexel's offense.
Youssef Bastawy recorded a sweep in all three of Drexel's matches as Men's Squash won the Holley Cup at the MASC Squash Championships. On Friday against No. 22 Navy, Bastawy earned his first victory of the tournament with an 11-6, 11-2, 11-6 victory. On the next day against No. 19 MIT, he secured a win against Mero Elmarassy, with an 11-0, 11-8, 11-4 result. Lastly, he earned another sweep in the Final Round against No. 9 Virginia, this time, with a score of 13-11, 12-10, 11-8.
