Women's Tennis Upended by LIU, 4-3

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Drexel women's tennis team was defeated by the LIU Sharks on Saturday afternoon, 4-3.
LIU jumped out in front by winning the doubles point. The Sharks took the third and first-seeded matches, but the pairing of Elisa Rigazio and Maddie Ricardo earned a victory at No. 2, 6-1.
In singles play, Rigazio earned Drexel its first point, earning a decisive victory in the No. 2 spot, 6-2, 6-1. In the top-seeded match, the Sharks earned the victory to take a 2-1 lead. Drexel bounced back in the No. 4 spot. Isabel Cabrerizo earned a 6-3, 7-5 victory. Renata Lombera brought Drexel closer to the victory, winning the No. 3 match, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. LIU was victorious in the final two matches to clinch the victory and hand Drexel its first loss of the spring.
Drexel returns to action on March 2 to take on Navy. First serve is slated for 10 a.m.
