
No. 66 Women's Tennis Shuts Out Norfolk State, 4-0

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women's tennis team blanked the Norfolk State Spartans, 4-0 on Sunday morning at the Vidas Courts.
Drexel, ranked No. 68 in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll, captured the doubles point to jump out to an early advantage. Isabel Cabrerizo and Adva Dabah shutout their opponents, 6-0 in the third-seeded match, while Lorie Lemongo and Rebecca Fiedler earned a 6-2 victory in the No. 2 spot.
The top-seeded match featuring Elisa Rigazio and Maddie Ricardo was stopped short, but the Dragons were in the lead, 5-3.
In singles play, Cabrerizo almost cruised to another shutout victory on the day, but had to settle for a 6-1, 6-0 third-seeded victory. In the No. 2 match, Lemongo saw a similar result, 6-0, 6-1. To clinch the match Rigazio took care of business in the top flight, 7-5, 6-3.
Ricardo's match in the No. 4 spot, along with Dabah's fifth-seeded match was cut short. Ricardo had a lead in the first set, 4-1. Fiedler did not have a chance to begin her sixth-seeded match before Drexel had clinched the match.
Drexel travels to Annapolis, Md., on Saturday, March 2, to take on Navy. First serve is slated for 10 a.m.
