No. 10 Women's Squash Downed by No. 7 Virginia 5-4 in Howe Cup Opener

PHILADELPHIA– The No. 10 Drexel University women's squash team got four wins on the day, but the Dragons fell to No. 7 Virginia 5-4 in the first round of the Howe Cup. With the loss, the Dragons moved down to 6-8 while the 13-4 Cavaliers will move on to the quarterfinals to take on No. 2 Harvard.

Moa Bonnemark got the first win of the day for the Dragons from the six spot, defeating Nasreen Hashmi 11-8, 11-5, 11-5. Lydia Robinson was up, taking down Nili Sprecher 11-6, 11-3, 11-2 from the eight spot. In the four spot, Emma Bartley was able to take down Maureen Foley, 14-12, 11-2, 11-3. Lastly, in the seven spot, Dina Rosli took down Eliza Mills by a score of 11-4, 11-3, 4-11, 11-5.

Up next, the Dragons will get set to take on No. 11 Dartmouth in the consolation bracket of the Howe Cup. Action is to start from the Arlen Specter US Squash Center at 3:00 P.M.
