Dragons of the Week: Gravereaux, Bartley, Smith, and Benn

PHILADELPHIA - Chelsea Gravereaux of women's swimming and diving, Sebastian Smith of men's swimming and diving, Emma Bartley of women's squash, and Darien Benn of men's squash have been named the Drexel Dragons of the Week, presented by Rothman Orthopaedics, for the week from February 26 – March 3.
Chelsea Gravereaux had an outstanding performance in the CAA Swimming and Diving championships. The Emmaus, Pa. native was named the conference's Most Outstanding Women's Swimmer at the championships this past weekend. She led the Dragons with three gold medal performances in the 50 free, 100 free, and 200 free and added a bronze medal in the 200 Free Relay.
Sebastian Smith led the men's swimming and diving team in the CAA Championships as they finished fourth. The sophomore set a program record in the 100 free prelims, hitting the wall at a time of 43.05. Smith went on to secure his second gold medal following a victory in the 50 free. Additionally, he was a part of five races for Drexel that broke school records.
Emma Bartley was 3-0 this past weekend at the Howe Cup as the Dragons won the consolation bracket. In the first match against Virginia, Bartley took down Maureen Foley, 14-12, 11-2, 11-3. In consolations against Dartmouth, Bartley was the first Dragon to defeat the Big Green from the three spot, sweeping Chelsea Cho in three sets,11-2, 11-1, 11-9. The sophomore also swept Columbia in the four spot, 11-9, 11-7, 11-5.
Darien Benn was undefeated this weekend in the Potter Cup as the Dragons finished seventh in the CSA Team Championships. Benn defeated Dartmouth in a sweep, 11-7, 11-9, 11-7, to help the team advance to the quarterfinals. Despite a heartbreaking 5-4 defeat from #1 Trinity, Benn was able to clinch a victory for the Dragons in five sets of play, 11-9, 5-11, 5-11, 11-9, 13-11. In the final match of the cup, the Barbados native was victorious over #4 Harvard's Conner Stoltz, 3-1 (9-11, 11-7, 11-8, 11-8).
