Baker Scores Career-High 26; Dragons Defeat N.C. A&T, 67-54

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Amaris Baker scored a career-high of 26 points to help the Drexel women's basketball team defeat the N.C. A&T Aggies, 67-54, on Thursday night in Greensboro, N.C. The Dragons outscored the Aggies 44-25 in the second half.
BY THE NUMBERS
Baker tallied 12 points in the first half and added 14 more in the second half to push her point total to 26. The junior has now pushed double-digits in a game for the fifth time this season and has scored 20 or more points in three contests.
Hetta Saatman and Erin Sweeney each chipped in 10 points. For Sweeney, it was a career-high on 4-for-6 from the field. Saatman also sank four buckets but on five tries. Each were successful on two shots from deep.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dragons led the Aggies after the first quarter of play, 13-9. Amaris Baker scored almost half the Dragons' points with six, going 3-for-5. DU went on a 6-2 run to close the quarter and forced nine N.C. A&T turnovers.
In the second 10 minutes, A&T scored 20 points and held Drexel to 10 to take a six-point lead into the half. Baker continued to carry the Drexel offense, sinking a pair of 3-pointers.
The Dragons surged in the third quarter, scoring 18 and holding the Aggies to 10 points. With 12 seconds left, Drexel took its first lead since conceding it in the second quarter. Baker cashed in on a fast break layup to push the score to 41-39.
In the fourth quarter, Drexel opened play on a 6-0 run, forcing North Carolina A&T to call an early timeout. With four minutes left, Drexel began a 12-6 run to close out the game and secure the victory. The Dragons shot 8-for-12 and scored 26 points in the final quarter, including five 3-pointers.
