Dragons Complete Regular Season With Victory Over Elon, 56-43

ELON, N.C. – The Drexel women's basketball team defeated the Elon Phoenix in the regular season finale on Saturday, 56-43. The Dragons outscored the Phoenix in three of the four quarters to take the 13-point advantage.
BY THE NUMBERS
There were three Dragons with 12 points on Saturday afternoon. Hetta Saatman shot 4-for-8 and went 4-for-4 from the charity stripe. Amaris Baker was also successful in four field goal attempts and connected on a shot from deep. Erin Sweeney set a career-high for the second straight game, also scoring 12 points.
Drexel held Elon to just 17-for-58 from the field, including a 2-for-17 from deep.
With the victory, Drexel has ensured it will finish .500 or above for the 10th straight season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Drexel shot 11-for-14 in the first 10 minutes to outscore the Phoenix, 24-11. Baker scored nine points on 4-for-5 shooting, while Grace O'Neill and Hetta Saatman each scored four. The Dragons held Elon to just 5-for-15 from the field and forced five turnovers.
Elon had an advantage in the second quarter, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit. Elon scored 14 points and held Drexel to 11, heading into the locker room down 10. Jasmine Valentine led the Dragons, scoring four points.
The Dragons and Elon were even in the third quarter, each scoring 12 points. Sweeney and Saatman led the Dragons in the third. Sweeney scored five, while Saatman tallied four. The Dragons held Elon to 4-for-14 shooting.
Drexel held Elon to just six points in the fourth quarter, including a run of no Phoenix field goals over a span of seven minutes. Sweeney led the Dragons once more with three points.
UP NEXT
The Dragons head to Washington, D.C. to play in the CAA Tournament. As the seventh seed, Drexel will play the 10th-seeded Delaware Blue Hens at 5 p.m.
