PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women's tennis team shutout the Towson Tigers in the regular season finale, 7-0, on Friday afternoon at the Vidas Courts. Prior to the match, the Dragons recognized Isabel Cabrerizo and Renata Lombera for their dedication to the program.
In doubles play, Drexel breezed through the competition. Lorie Lemongo and Lombera defeated their top-seeded opponents, 6-3, while Elisa Rigazio and Maddie Ricardo paired in the No. 2 match and finished their opponents, 6-2. Cabrerizo and Adva Dabah competed at No. 3 winning, 6-2.
In singles play, Lemongo earned another top-seeded victory, 6-4, 6-0. In the No. 2 match, Rigazio used a pair of 6-2 victories to defeat Chandre Boshoff. Lombera bounced back from dropping the first set to defeat Ashira Murray, 3-6, 6-3, 10-7. Cabrerizo used a 6-2, 6-1 score to pick up another victory this spring, while Ricardo defeated her opponent, 6-4, 6-0. Dabah rounded out Drexel's lineup at No. 6 with a clean shutout, 6-0, 6-0.
Drexel now awaits to find out who it will play in the 2024 CAA Women's Tennis Championships. The first day of competition is slated for Wednesday, April 24, at Elon, N.C.
