Drexel Finishes Second at Kerr Cup Regatta

PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel men's rowing team came just shy of a third straight Dr. Thomas Kerr Cup, finishing second at the Kerr Cup Regatta.
The Varsity 8+ team of Chloe Minicucci (Coxswain), Josh Diggons (Stroke), Zoran Bosnic, James Schmidt, Damian Lis, Jack Anderson, Andrew Manns, John Little and Andrei Malis (Bow) in Lois Krall III lost in a heartbreaker, coming just six tenths of a second from beating the first place boat of LaSalle. The Dragons finished with a time of 5:44.8.
The Second Varsity 8+ A team of Alex Dragovits (Coxswain), Marawan Mohamed (Stroke), Nikola Loncar, Michael Pazderski, Nemanja Sajatovic, Quinn Cooney, Roman Smigiel, Collin Gross and Dearon Tufankjian in Krall II won gold, finishing with a time of 5:52.0. DU finished four seconds over LaSalle. The Second Varsity 8+ B team finished third with a time of 6:03.9.
In the third varsity race, the team of Emma Houghton (Coxswain), George Karacsonyi (Stroke), Max Wilson, Gavin Roe, Joe Glenn, Liam Strain, Griffin Johnson, Sam Duncan, Carter Hubbard (Bow) in Joseph Griepp came home third with a time of 6:13.0.
"It was a great day of racing at the Kerr Cup," said head coach Matt Weaver. "Today showed the depth of our program and that we are heading in the right direction heading into the championship season. I am excited to line it back up next week at the Bergen Cup for the Philly City Championship."
UP NEXT
The Dragons return to the Schuylkill River for the Bergen and Kelly Cup on Saturday, April 27. Drexel will honor its seniors prior to the opening race.
