Women’s Rowing Closes Out Kelly Cup With Three Second Place Finishes on Senior Day

PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel women's rowing team finished the Kelly Cup with three second place finishes on the Schuylkill River Saturday.
Starting the day, DU honored seniors Rachel Civan, Maddie Depommier, Kayla Driscoll, Katie Ernst, Giavanna Hunt, Rita Keefer, Mollie Knoff, Julianna Rogers, Chloe Speciale, Alex Tingley and Kira Tracy for their contributions to the program.
The Varsity 8+ team of Chloe Speciale (Coxswain), Julianna Rogers (Stroke), Sarah Ghazaz, Fiona Steele, Mollie Knoff, Kayla Driscoll, Kira Tracy, Margaret Dobrenko and Rita Keefer, in Jim & Toni Downey, finished fourth with a time of 7:08.0.
The Second Varsity 8+ boat, composed of Katie O'Donnell (Coxswain), Baylor Henry (Stroke), Jaelyn Walsh, Kieran Harrington, Rachel Civan, Colette Zidek, Emma Doughty, Katie Ernst and Margaret Horgan, took Alleva XVII to a silver position. The Dragons crossed at a time of 7:17.0, beating Thomas Jefferson to the line after a hard fought battle.
The Varsity 4+ and Second Varsity 8+ teams rounded out the day with two silver finishes, with times of 7:54.0 and 8:07.0.

Next up the Dragons head to Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Massachusetts for the Eastern Sprints Regatta on Sunday, May 5.
