Dragons Fall to NJIT, 4-3

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women's tennis team was defeated by the NJIT Highlanders, 4-3 on Friday afternoon at the Vidas Courts.
NJIT was quick to clinch its first point of the match, after winning the doubles point. The Dragons made it close by winning the No. 2 match, however. Elisa Rigazio and Maddie Ricardo took down their opponents, 6-1 to give Drexel a chances at the first point.
In singles play, Drexel won the top two matches to help Drexel's chances at a victory. Lorie Lemongo used a pair of 6-4 sets to overcome her opponent. In the No. 2 match, Rigazio defeated her counterpart, 7-6 (5), 6-2. NJIT won its matches in the third, fifth and sixth match to clinch the win, but Isabel Cabrerizo grinded out a three-set victory in the No. 4 spot, 4-6, 7-6 (4), 7-2.
Drexel returns to action on Sunday, April 7 as the team makes a trip to West Long Branch, N.J. to face the Monmouth Hawks. First serve is scheduled for noon.
