WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - The Drexel women's tennis team blanked the Monmouth Hawks in a conference match on Sunday afternoon, 7-0.
Drexel won the doubles point after the Dragons won the first and second-seeded match. Lorie Lemongo and Renata Lombera earned a 6-3 victory in the top-seeded match, while Elisa Rigazio and Maddie Ricardo downed their opponents 6-1.
In singles play, The Dragons swept the lineup, taking each match with just two sets. In the No. 1 match, Lemongo downed her opponent, 6-2, 6-1. The No. 2 match saw Rigazio defeat Nitika Girish, 6-4, 6-1. Lombera defeated her opponent, 6-3, 6-4 in the No. 3 match, while Isabel Cabrerizo shut her opponent out in the first set, then took the second set, 6-2. In the fifth-seeded match, Rebecca Fiedler earned a 6-3, 6-0 victory, while Bia Ibrahim defeated Madison Milis in the No. 6 match, 6-3, 7-6.
Drexel returns to action on Wednesday, April 10 in Newark, Del. Against the Delaware Blue Hens. First serve is slated for 2 p.m.
