Drexel Rowing Ready for 85th Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. - The Drexel men's and women's rowing teams are set to begin championship season as they compete in the historic 85th Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta on Friday and Saturday, May 10-11.
The No. 16 Drexel men's team is looking to capture its third consecutive points trophy. The women will be competing in the event for the first time since the 2022 season.
Last Time Out
The men took home its third straight Bergen Cup as the team celebrated Senior Day on Saturday, April 27. The Varsity 8+ boat took home gold, besting its Philadelphia rivals by over three seconds with a time of 5:52.0.
The 3rd Varsity 8+ boat also took home the top spot, crossing the line at 6:12.0. 13 seconds over the crew of Saint Joseph's.
The women competed at the Eastern Sprints Regatta last weekend against top competition on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Massachusetts. The Varsity 8+ team finished second in the 3rd Level Final, finishing at 7:15.653. The Varsity 4+ team qualified into the Petitie Final, placing in the fourth spot, at a time of 8:31.739.
2023 Dad Vail Regatta
The V8+, 2V8+ and Novice 8+ teams all captured gold at last year's regatta, leading the team to its fourth men's title in program history. The Varsity 8+ team helped the Dragons close things out in the final event, sinking the boat of La Salle after a tight battle.
Neither team led by more than 3 seats in the first 1,800 meters. DU ultimately finished strong, crossing with a time of 5:41.265, pulling away from the Explorers by two seconds.
Up Next
The Dragons look to earn a berth in the IRA Nationals to be held May 31 through June 2 on Lake Mercer in Princeton, N.J.
