Baker Named USWBA National Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - Amaris Baker of the Drexel women's basketball team has been named the National Player of the Week by the USWBA (U.S. Basketball Writers Association) on Tuesday afternoon. Baker was named the CAA Player of the Week and Philadelphia Women's Basketball Big 5 Player of the Week earlier this week.

The Philadelphia native helped Drexel to a 2-0 week against some of the conference's top teams this past weekend. In Drexel's first contest against Charleston, Baker scored 19 points, including the teams' final four points to defeat the Cougars, 58-56. On Sunday, Baker scored 24 points on 10-for-18 shooting to help Drexel down the Phoenix, 64-37. The senior played for 67 minutes and assisted the Drexel defense in holding opponents to just 27-for-114 from the field and 6-for-45 from deep.

Drexel travels to Boston to play the Northeastern Huskies at 3 p.m. on Friday, January 31. The Dragons return to Philadelphia to host the Towson Tigers at 2 p.m. in the DAC on Sunday, February 2.
