Drexel Wrestling Announces Matt Kolonia as an Assistant Coach

Chad Walsh Elevated to Full-Time Staff
PHILADELPHIA — Drexel Mert '67 and Joanne '69 Hill Head Coach of Wrestling Matt Azevedo announces the addition of Matt Kolonia as an assistant coach. Additionally, Chad Walsh has been elevated to be a full-time assistant coach.
"We are thrilled to add Matt to our staff," said Azevedo. "He has a great understanding of what it takes to succeed as a student-athlete. His experience on and off the mat will make him a valuable mentor to our Drexel team."
Prior to joining Drexel, Kolonia was an assistant coach at Stevens. Kolonia wrestled collegiately at Bucknell, where he was a four-year starter and three-time team captain. The Milford, N.J., native placed fifth at the 2021 EWIA Championships at 149-pounds.
"I couldn't be more excited to join the Drexel wrestling staff," said Kolonia. "We have a special group of athletes and I look forward to helping with growth both in the sport and beyond the mat.
Kolonia received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Bucknell in 2021.
