Drexel Falls to Saint Joseph’s in NCAA Opening Round

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Drexel field hockey fell to Saint Joseph's, 2–0, in the NCAA Tournament Opening Round on Wednesday afternoon in Chapel Hill. The Dragons finished the 2025 season with a 13–8 record after winning their first CAA Championship since 2012.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first quarter featured balanced play, with Drexel generating early pressure off a penalty corner but unable to break through. Saint Joseph's capitalized in the second quarter, scoring twice in a 10-minute span on goals from Carly Hynd. The Dragons continued to battle through the second half, earning multiple corners in the fourth quarter and forcing the Hawks' goalkeeper Paige Kieft into two key saves late.
Goalkeepers Halle Geiger and Alana Poole combined for three saves, while Fleur Hamers and Anna Castaldo each recorded shots on goal. Natali Foster and Marti Sanabria anchored the defensive unit, playing all 60 minutes.
