PHILADELPHIA – Assistant Athletics Director, Student-Athlete Development Peaches Brown and Marti Sanabria, member of the Drexel field hockey team, attended the NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum, hosted in Frisco, Texas on November 20. The three-day event welcomed 350 student-athletes and administrators across all three NCAA Divisions.
"Being a facilitator at this forum brought pure joy," Brown said. "You get to pour into student-athletes and administrators who are hungry to lead, and you walk away just as inspired by them as they are by you. This forum reminds me why I do this work: the growth, the connection and the chance to impact the next generation of leaders."
The leadership forum this year had the theme of "adjusting your sails", and those who went to the forum heard from Charlie Baker, the President of the NCAA, and Felicia Martin, the Senior Vice President of Inclusion, Education & Community Engagement for the NCAA.
"It was an honor to represent the CAA at the NCAA 2025 Leadership Forum," Sanabria said. "I'm extremely grateful for the growth it gave me. The experience not only allowed me to reflect on myself and my leadership style, but it also encouraged me to live a life with legacy. One quote that resonated with me was, "Plant a seed, even if you never see it grow." It reminded me of the impact we can make in people's lives and inspired me to think more deeply about the legacy I want to leave here at Drexel."
Other speakers for the three-day event included Will Baggett, a motivational speaker, Lamar Pottinger, the Director of Performance and Organizational Development for the Detroit Pistons, Dr. Angel Brutus, the President and CEO of Synergistic Solutions and Dr. Nyaka NiiLampti, the Vice President of Wellness and Clinical Services for the NFL.
