Jason "Deuce" Drake Named Big 5 Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - Drexel's Jason "Deuce" Drake has been named this week's Big 5 Player of the Week. The junior picked up the first Big 5 Player of the Week Award for the Dragons this season.
Drake, Drexel's starting point guard, had a career day in the win on Thursday vs. William & Mary. He scored a career-best 25 points to go along with nine assists, which was also a career-high. He was 8-for-16 from the floor, made three 3-pointers and had only one turnover in just under 33 minutes of play. On Saturday against UNCW, Drake scored five straight points in the final 17 seconds of overtime, including a 3-pointer to tie it with three seconds to play, to force a second extra period. Drake finished the game with 21 points, was 3-for-4 from deep and handed out five assists.
In the two games, the Oak Park, Mich. native averaged 23 points and seven assists, while shooting 50 percent (16-32) from the floor and 6-for-10 from long range. He finished the two games with 14 assists and had just three turnovers.
Dreake has started all 25 games for the Dragons this season. He is averaging 10.5 points, 3.1 assists and is shooting 41 percent from behind the arc. Drake also leads the team in free-throw percentage at .889.
