PHILADELPHIA - Drexel Athletics will dedicate the scorer's table at the Daskalakis Athletic Center in honor of late hall of fame scoreboard operator and timekeeper Dave Clawson '75, thanks to a generous gift from his wife Kathy '77. The ceremony will take place on Saturday, February 22 at halftime of the men's basketball game versus Charleston.
A 1975 Drexel graduate, Clawson was a fixture at the DAC for nearly five decades, prior to his passing in 2022. His infectious smile, personality and sense of humor touched everyone he came in contact with. He began serving as official timekeeper for men's basketball in 1986, prior to adding women's basketball responsibilities in the 1990s. He was inducted into the Drexel Athletics Hall of Fame as the Athletics Director Legacy Award winner in 2017. As a student, he served as a representative on the University's Athletics Committee and manager of the baseball team. Upon graduation, he served as building supervisor at the DAC and assisted with gameday management for men's basketball until assuming scoreboard duties.
Clawson, who began attending Drexel basketball games as an undergraduate, also worked in Drexel's alumni records office and later in the Office of the Registrar. He went on to spend 30 years as University Registrar at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.
