Drexel to Play Monmouth in CAA Quarterfinals on Friday

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Drexel women's basketball team is set to play the Monmouth Hawks in the Quarterfinals of the 2025 Credit Union 1 CAA Women's Basketball Championship on Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. It will be the third straight quarterfinal that Drexel and Monmouth meet.
Last Time Out
The Drexel women's basketball team was defeated in the final regular season game of the season by the Stony Brook Seawolves, 66-59. Drexel led the Seawolves by one point heading into the fourth quarter, but Stony Brook scored 24 points in the final frame to defeat the Dragons. Drexel ends the regular season with a 16-12 record and 12-6 in Conference play.
Deja Evans led the Dragons in scoring, finishing with 22 points on 10-for-13 shooting and grabbing eight rebounds.
Amaris Baker finished with 15 points and seven rebounds in the effort. Chloe Hodges rounded out Drexel's double-digit performers with 11 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Last Time Against Monmouth
The Drexel women's basketball team extended its winning streak to five games after defeating the Monmouth Hawks on Friday night in the Daskalakis Athletic Center, 75-65. With the victory Drexel (16-9, 12-3 CAA) has clinched one of the top-four seeds in the 2025 CAA Tournament and will receive a double-bye. Also with the victory, Drexel has ensured that it will finish above .500 for the 11th straight season.
Laine McGurk posted a season-high 14 points on Friday night, connecting on five shots, grabbing three assists and tallying three assists. The sophomore also added three assists to her stat sheet.
Chloe Hodges finished the game with 13 points and eight assists. It is the 10th double-digit performance for Hodges this season and it is the fourth straight game where Hodges corralled eight or more rebounds.
It is the first time since the 2019-20 season that five Dragons finished in double digits in one game. McGurk and Amaris Baker paced the Dragons with 14 points each, while Hodges, Cara McCormack and Deja Evans all chipped in 10 or more points. The last time the Dragons had five different Dragons with double digit point totals was on January 12, 2020 against Hofstra. Keishana Washington, Bailey Greenberg, Mariah Leonard, Kate Connolly and Hannah Nihill all scored more than 10 points in the effort.
