
Drexel Falls to Delaware, 82-59

NEWARK, Del. – The Drexel women's basketball team was defeated by the Delaware Blue Hens, 82-59, on Friday night in Newark, Del. The Dragons fall to 16-11 and 12-5 in CAA play with one game left to play.
Amaris Baker led the Dragons with 16 points on 6-for-15 shooting. The senior also hit two three pointers.
Delaware opened the game on an 11-6 run, holding Drexel to just 3-for-10 from the field and three turnovers. Defensively, Drexel held the Blue Hens to three turnovers as well in the first six minutes of play. The Dragons and Blue Hens traded blows in the first quarter, ending the frame, 16-12, in Delaware's favor. Baker paced the Dragons in the quarter, going 2-for-3 for four points.
The Blue Hens poured on 25 points in the second quarter and held Drexel to 19 points in the second frame. Delaware scored 11 field goals, opposed to Drexel's seven shots made. Each team was successful on three shots from beyond the arc. Baker paced the Dragons once more, adding another seven points. McCormack scored five points on 2-for-3 shooting. Delaware went into halftime with a 41-31 lead.
Delaware shot 75 percent in the third quarter to outscore the Dragons 20-14 in the frame. Evans led Drexel in scoring six points on 3-for-3 shooting. Drexel shot 7-for-18 in the third quarter.
The Dragons scored 14 in the fourth quarter but could not hold off the red-hot Blue Hens, who scored 21 points on 6-for-8 shooting and 3-for-4 from deep.
