CHERRY HILL, N.J. - The Drexel women's rowing team each won three medals on the final day of The Knecht Cup Regatta Sunday on the Cooper River. The varsity 4+ and second varsity 8+ captured silver medals, while the varsity 8+ took home bronze. All five boats qualified for grand finals.
The 2V8+ team of Erin Ernst (Coxswain), Ariana Townsend (Stroke), Sarah Ghazaz, Maggie Horgan, Fiona Steele, Lila Seidenberg, Colette Zidek, Jaelyn Walsh, and Kieran Harrington (Bow) came two second shy of first place, finishing with a time of 6:54.20. Rowing in Alleva XVII, the Dragons fought within a seat with the boats of MIT and Bucknell the majority of the race. Coming to the line, MIT pulled away to get the win at 6:52.78.
The V4+, in Laura Ludwick White, pulled out a second place finish in the Grand Final. The crew of Katie O'Donnell (Coxswain), Kari Prosperi (Stroke), Delaney Gellert, Lauren Boyce, and Lily Gramlich (Bow) passed the boat from Bucknell by a nose just before crossing the line. They came home with a time of 7:48.73, half a second ahead of the Bison. Lafayette took the top spot with a time of 7:45.37.
The varsity 8+ made a late comeback to collect the silver medal. After falling behind early, the Dragons outlasted Radcliffe and Bucknell to capture the hardware. They clocked in at a time of 6:43.69, three seconds behind Boston.
