
Women’s Rowing Brings Home Kelly Cup

PHILADELPHIA - The varsity 8+ team took home the Kelly Cup on the Schuylkill River Saturday as the Dragons celebrated senior day. This is the first win in the event for the V8+ since the 2023 season, and the third in four years. The 2nd varsity 8+ and 3rd varsity 8+ boats also captured gold.
Drexel honored seniors Margaret Dobrenko, Emily Ellis, Delaney Gellert, Baylor Henry, Ellen McCallin, Taylor Powell, Belen Rosales, and Fiona Steele (Bow) before the event.
The team of Lauren Shaw (Coxswain), Emily Ellis (Stroke), Ellen McCallin, Margaret Dobrenko, Hannah Walseth, Taylor Powell, Colette Zidek, Baylor Henry, and Sabrina Batdorf (Bow) crossed the line with a time of 7:25.9. They finished six seconds ahead of the La Salle team.
The 2V8+ boat won in dominant fashion. Erin Ernst (Coxswain), Ariana Townsend (Stroke), Sarah Ghazaz, Maggie Horgan, Fiona Steele, Lila Seidenberg, Kieran Harrington, Lauren Boyce, and Grace Conroy (Bow) finished with a time of 7:44.5. The Dragons sank the boat from La Salle by 27 seconds.
The 3V8+ also won by 30 seconds over the Temple crew, finishing at 8:29.4.
