PENNSAUKEN, N.J. - The Drexel varsity 4+ team captured gold at the CAA Championships in Pennsauken, N.J. Saturday morning. This is the Dragons first CAA win since the 2022 season, with the V4+ last taking the top spot in 2019. The varsity 8+ team earned bronze as three Dragon boats collected hardware.
Drexel placed second overall at the Championship, finishing with 40 points. Northeastern took home the trophy for the 11th consecutive season with 47 points. Additionally, Jaelyn Walsh, Fiona Steele, Baylor Henry, Taylor Powell and Ellen McCallin were all named to the All-CAA Team
The V4+ team of Katie O'Donnell (Coxswain), Kari Prosperi (Stroke), Delaney Gellert, Jaelyn Walsh and Lily Gramlich (Bow) rowed Laura Ludwick White across the line with a time of 7:33.609. UC San Diego took the early lead out the gate, but the Dragons quickly overtook the Tritons to control the race the rest of the way. The Dragons finished a boat length ahead of Northeastern, handing the Huskies their first loss in any CAA Championship race since the 2022 season.
The second varsity 8+ team in Alleva XVII won silver for the second time in three seasons. Erin Ernst (Coxswain), Ariana Townsend (Stroke), Sarah Ghazaz, Maggie Horgan, Fiona Steele, Lila Seidenberg, Kieran Harrington, Lauren Boyce and Grace Conroy (Bow) finished with a time of 6:52.540, eight seconds behind Northeastern.
