Women’s Rowing Has Successful First Day at Dad Vail Regatta

CHERRY HILL, N.J. - The Drexel women's rowing team advanced all five boats to Grand Finals at the Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta on Friday. The varsity 8+, varsity 4+, and W2x teams all qualified through the semi-finals on the Cooper River.
The varsity 8+ team, rowing in Jim & Toni Downey, crossed the line in first place with a time of 6:44.190. Lauren Shaw (Coxswain), Emily Ellis (Stroke), Ellen McCallin, Margaret Dobrenko, Hannah Walseth, Taylor Powell, Colette Zidek, Baylor Henry, and Sabrina Batdorf (Bow) finished two and a half second over the second place team of St. Joseph's. Georgetow had the best overall time in the second semi-final at 6:42.644.
Katie O'Donnell (Coxswain), Kari Prosperi (Stroke), Delaney Gellert, Jaelyn Walsh, and Lily Gramlich (Bow) captured the last spot into the varsity 4+ Grand Final. The team took Laura Ludwick White to a third place spot at a time of 7:43.177. MIT cruised to the win, coming home with a time of 7:34.231. FIT had the top time of the day.
Alyssa Bucci and Paulina Restrepo competed in the women's V2x. They had a dominant performance, coasting across the finish line 20 seconds ahead of the field.
The 2V8+ and 3V8+ teams advanced to Grand Finals during the time trials. The 2nd varsity 8+ had the best time in their division at 6:43.774
