PHILADELPHIA - Scott Yurgalevicz has been named the Head Coach of the Drexel golf program, Drexel University Vice President, Director of Athletics and Recreation Maisha Kelly announced today. Yurgalevicz is a PGA Golf Instructor at Philadelphia Cricket Club and was a head coach at the Division I level for nearly a decade at La Salle.
"I am thrilled to name Scott Yurgalevicz the next head men's golf coach," said Kelly. "Scott's enthusiasm for this opportunity and continuing the success the program has had over the last decade are palpable. Scott's experience in NCAA Division I athletics, coupled with his Philadelphia roots, are terrific attributes as he transitions to lead the program into its next chapter."
Yurgalevicz is a Class A PGA professional and has been at Philadelphia Cricket Club since 2019. His expertise is in swing mechanics with certification in numerous areas. He has coached players from all levels including and up to mini tour players. He has put together customized lesson plans tailored to individual learning.
"I'm incredibly honored and excited to be named the Head Men's Golf Coach at Drexel University" said Yurgalevicz. "Coach Ben Feld has built a tremendous program rooted in excellence, discipline, and competitive success, and I'm truly grateful for the opportunity to carry that legacy forward. I look forward to working with the talented student-athletes here as we continue to raise the standard and lead the Dragons to new heights both on and off the course."
The Torrington, Conn., native previously served as the head coach for both the men and the women at La Salle University from 2014 through 2024. He lowered the team scoring average by 27 strokes and had his team record the lowest scoring average in school history. Nine of his student-athletes won individual tournament championships and he led the Explorers to three team titles. They were the only three titles the school had won at that point. His teams broke more than 30 school records during his tenure in Olney. He recruited current Drexel golfer Kevin Lydon, who set a school record by shooting a 10-under-par 61, in 2022. In addition, he oversaw all aspects of the program including recruiting, operations, travel, budget, fundraising and compliance.
Yurgalevicz previously taught at LuLu Country Club, Chester Valley Golf Club and Dupont Country Club. He was also a Golf TEC Center Manager and Coach for two years. Yurgalevicz graduated from Villanova in 2008 with a degree in philosophy. He and his wife, Angela, live in North Wales, Pa. with their daughters Julia, Madison, Emily and Abby.
