PHILADELPHIA — The Drexel women's soccer team played to a draw with George Washington Sunday afternoon in Philadelphia, 2-2. Reese Power and Alex Rivera each netted their first career goals as Drexel moves to 0-0-2 on the season.
Drexel opened the scoring in the 12th minute. Off a corner kick from Makenzie McCready, Power controlled the ball in front of the net and fired home her first career goal to give the Dragons the early advantage.
Drexel carried a 1-0 lead into halftime, but GW responded with two quick scores to begin the second half. After coming off the bench to start the day, Naomi Kim found the back of the net in the 47th minute. The freshman received the pass from Kathleen Ngulefac, who beat her defender to get the finish.
Just minutes later, George Washington was able to strike again. Ngulefac was able to make things happen on her own this time around, scoring in the 49th minute. With a defender on her back, she found space on the left side and found an angle to swing momentum back to GW, 2-1.
Drexel fought back in the 75th minute. After a timeout, Adriana Salzano hit the long ball down field that deflected into the hands of Rivera. The sophomore buried the equalizer into the bottom right corner to tie things at two a piece.
Drexel will close out the three-game home stand as they face Saint Joseph's on Thursday. Kick-off is set for 6 p.m. at Vidas Field.
